INTERACTIVE KIOSKS

The Ridgefield Group announces the latest addition to our services:
Interactive Kiosk design and development. Interactive and Informational
Kiosks create an opportunity to transmit important information in
a visually stimulating multimedia experience. Appropriate design
and application allows users to understand information quickly,
making communication more efficient.
Kiosks offer more customer benefit over other forms of public-access
information. Well-designed and created kiosks draw people in. Visual
design elements and audio components create a stimulating environment
that appeals to a normally passive audience. A public who might
normally bypass signage, brochures, and printed materials are quickly
drawn to a Kiosk presentation.
Interactive Kiosks
Kiosks that allow users to select content, display information,
and choose the presentation format are Interactive kiosks. These
kiosks allow user input from touch screens, keyboards, or trackball,
depending on the selection option and interactive methods. Video,
audio, text, graphics, and content are selected by the user - each
viewing of the presentation is unique and different!
Interactive kiosks can be programmed to deliver all kinds of data
- from complex database content, like a card-catalog in a library
and on-site job application centers, to simple details like a menu.
The variety is almost limitless!
Informational Kiosks
Informational displays and communication is needed almost everywhere
- signage, display, and other "regular" communications
are all around. Informational Kiosks present content in a linear
"start-to-finish" loop, without interruption or changes
to the flow. Users merely watch and listen to the content without
interacting with the display.
Environmental factors
Where a kiosk is located is just as important as the content it
displays. Interactive kiosks must have good interface design, be
thoroughly accessible to the public (ADA-compliant), have sturdy
installation points, durable and secure hardware, and be located
in a prominent space. In addition, we strive to make certain that
the user experience of a kiosk isn't inhibited by other environmental
factors such as ambient light and sound, foot traffic, and competing
sources of sound and activity. Positioning a kiosk for the optimum
location helps to ensure its successful use as a communications
tool.
A "Turnkey" Approach
There are a number of "Kiosk-in-a-box" vendors on the
market, and many of them offer a cookie-cutter approach to kiosk
development. We believe that a turnkey approach is better, focusing
on the entire kiosk project with our client to establish the following
phases of development:
- Define goals and audience implications for the kiosk
- Design features and content selections
- Complete storyboarding / content development
- User Interface design and development
- Hardware and software selections, configuration and setup
- Installation options (cabinet, wall-mount, etc.) and consultation
on environmental factors
- Kiosk security, public-access limitations, and administration
controls
- On-site installation, setup, and configuration
- Remote maintenance and updates available through our Ridgefield
Remote Care services
- Ongoing updates and improvements to the kiosk software
These phases of development and turnkey approach to the Kiosk enable
our clients to have the absolute best opportunity for success in
their Kiosk projects.
